đź’ˇTL;DR: OnMarch 19, we're hosting a specialCKAN Extensions Demo Day, giving developers the stage toshowcase their extensions, demo their features, and connect with users and contributors.
The strength of CKAN comes from its community of users, developers, and advocates. All across the community developers take advantage of CKAN extensibility to create plugins that extend its functionality, automate tasks, or allow integration with other tools. We want these extensions to be known and used!
That’s why on March 19, we’re shaking up our CKAN Monthly Live format to bring you a special CKAN Extensions Demo Day.
In a lightning talk format, presenters will be able to showcase their extensions and demo them to present a quick overview of their features.
Why participate?
For users: Discover new extensions to enhance your CKAN instance.
For developers: Gain visibility, attract new users, and even find contributors!
Have an extension to share? It doesn’t matter if it’s a tiny feature, as long as it is useful to the wider community we want to hear about it. Submit your extension using the form below, and we’ll be in touch.
🔍 What you need to know:
Extensions must beopen-source, you need to provide a link to their repository
They need to be useful to the wider community (if you want to showcase your custom CKAN site you can reach out separately to present it in a future CKAN Monthly live)
You’ll have 5-10 minutes to present, ideally a live demo of your extension in action
The second CKAN Extensions Demo Day brought another round of focused, real-world solutions for CKAN-based data portals. Each extension demo tackled persistent challenges—from upload validation and custom data listings to cloud-scale performance and system diagnostics.
When we talk about data portals, we usually focus on their role in collecting and cataloguing data, improving its quality and making it more discoverable and shareable. But even with the very best data portal, it can still just be data sitting on a site.
