As we edge closer to Open Data Day in March 2024, the anticipation within the CKAN community reaches new heights. We're thrilled to announce an extraordinary CKAN Monthly Live event on February 21, 2024, marking the beginning of a celebration that extends into the Open Data Day week from March 2-8. We want to turn this period into a "canvas" for us to showcase the remarkable achievements and collective efforts of our community. We want to celebrate the CKAN community's spirit, highlighting how we're driving the open data movement forward!

We want to invite the CKAN community to engage in a unique initiative: to create and share video walkthroughs that highlight their achievements, insights, and experiences with CKAN and the data projects it supports.

This initiative encourages contributions from all perspectives - whether it's the backend intricacies, code-level insights, planning strategies, or the impactful stories of data use in real-world scenarios. Our goal is to highlight the grassroots traction of CKAN through a multifaceted showcase that celebrates both the technical and human elements of our community. This is a call for enthusiasts, developers, and advocates. Share your CKAN story with us!

• Technical Deep-Dive with Brett Jones: Brett will present a captivating demonstration on GitHub Codespaces, illustrating how to quickly set up a fully functional instance of any CKAN version. This demo is a must-see for anyone interested in the technical side of CKAN deployment and development.

Steven De Costa, CKAN co-steward and a leading figure in the open data realms, perfectly encapsulates the spirit of our upcoming event. Steven remarks: "Let’s raise some positive spirit for CKAN and encourage folks, as part of open data day in early March, to do a vidcast and walkthrough of something they like, think is neat, or are proud of in their relationship with CKAN and the data projects it supports. Let’s remind everyone that CKAN has grassroots traction! Let’s publish our walkthroughs from the backend perspective, the code perspective, the planning and hopeful wishes perspective, etc. Not just the front-end case study perspective, but yes that perspective too!"

• Steven De Costa
  Co-Steward of CKAN Project | Executive Director at Link Digital
  Steven De Costa, a veteran in the internet and multimedia industry since 1997, co-stewards CKAN project. His leadership at Link Digital has spearheaded numerous digital projects focusing on open data and public cloud opportunities, underlining his dedication to the open knowledge community. He is a co-steward of the CKAN project and a long-standing contributor within open data and open knowledge initiatives, regularly co-organising and presenting at related events.
• Brett Jones
  DevOps Engineer and CKAN Contributor at Link Digital
  Brett brings over 30 years of experience in the tech industry, having worked across the globe in many roles ranging from Developer to Systems, DevOps, and Integration, with the most recent focus on container technologies, build automation, bespoke toolsmithing, application performance monitoring and data engineering. In the last 3+ years, he has been regularly involved in the CKAN community and made a number of contributions to CKAN, mainly in the DevOps area.

This event is not just a demonstration of what CKAN can do! It's a call to action for all open data enthusiasts to contribute, share, and innovate together. Let's remind the world of the transformative power of open source and open data!
